TN needs more dyes & chemicals industries - Chemexcil

According to a senior official of an apex chemicals body, there is a need for more manufacturing plants producing dyes, paints and chemicals, since there are a large number of units in the textile and automotive and auto-component sectors.

The textile sector is a major consumer of dyes and chemicals, while the automotive sector needs paints and plastics. This was revealed to fibre2fashion by Ms Smita Samant, Executive Director, Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Export Promotion Council (Chemexcil).

She said, “In Tamil Nadu, Tirupur and Coimbatore lead in man-made garments and hence consumes lot of dyes. The state also houses lot of auto industry and also auto-component industry companies, which require dyes, pigments and paints.”

“Tamil Nadu has well developed ports in Chennai and is also very close to Vishakapattnam, making it easier to ship and also export these commodities to overseas markets”, she concluded by saying.
