British brand Monki will now use cent per cent organic cotton as part of its steps towards only supporting sustainably-sourced materials by 2030, managing director Jennnie Dahlin Hansson announced recently. The brand has been working with recycled cotton as well. The decision will reduce its impact on climate by 46 per cent compared to traditional cotton.

The brand has also joined the Better Cotton Initiative, which aims at making the global cotton production industry fairer for the people who produce it, the space it is grown in and for the future of cotton, according to British media reports.

Recycled cotton is made from recycled clothes and reduces water waste and the negative impacts on the climate by 75 per cent in comparison to virgin cotton fibres.

The brand will start using the Global Recycle Standard and Recycled Claim Standard which use independent third parties to source their recycling cotton. (DS)
