New electro-textile materials and system integration company Textronics Inc has appointed Apexon Inc President and Chief Executive Officer Emily Liggett to its Board of Directors.

Ms Liggett has spent more than 20 years growing technology-based global businesses. As CEO of San Jose-based Apexon since 2004, she has guided the venture-backed start-up company to market leadership in supplier quality management software solutions.

Textronics CEO Stacey Burr said, "As a seasoned and successful business leader with an accomplished track record of profitability in both the corporate and start-up world, Emily brings an invaluable perspective to our board."

"Textronics will draw upon her extensive experience building technology and materials businesses," she added.

Ms Liggett spent more than 16 years of her career at Raychem Corporation, a materials company purchased by Tyco International in 1999. At Raychem, she held numerous leadership positions including President and CEO of Elo TouchSystems, an emerging electronics technology company that developed and manufactured touch screens; and Director of Worldwide Marketing for the Chemelex Division, a conductive polymer business.

Ms Liggett has also served as Interim President and CEO of Capstone Turbine Corporation, and as Managing Director for Tyco Ventures.

Ms Liggett said, "I am pleased to join the board of an organization that is a driving force behind the emerging electro-textiles industry. Textronics is well-positioned in both consumer and industrial markets to capitalize on opportunities in a variety of segments such as health and fitness monitoring systems."
