Davies said this was best reflected by Sasol being ranked among the top five of 22 high environmental impact companies by the JSE Security Exchange in its Socially Responsible Investment Index. This was in recognition of the group having integrated the principles of sustainability and socially responsible investment reporting into business practices.
Davies said that Sasol also remains in the top quartile of the international Dow Jones Sustainability Index for their industrial category, while they continue to advance their worldwide responsible care programme for their fuel and chemical interests, and uphold their commitment to the tenets of the Global Compact as a signatory to this United Nations initiative.
Meanwhile, Sasol's 2004 Sustainability Report received its second accolade this year. The report received a joint fourth place ranking in the first Ernst & Young Excellence in Sustainability Reporting Survey.
In June this year, Sasol's 2004 Sustainability Report was declared the joint-winner of the prestigious Best Sustainability Report award of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for the second consecutive year.
