Peter Doughty as SATRA Safety Product Centre Manager

Peter Doughty has been appointed Business Manager of SATRA's Safety Product Centre.

He was selected to further develop the technology centre's CE marking business in personal protective equipment (PPE), construction products, medical devices and toys for SATRA's Notified Body certification team.

Peter, a Chartered Engineer with a Master of Sciences degree, is an acknowledged expert in many industry areas and has worked at SATRA since 1986.

Originally part of a research team developing innovative technical manufacturing improvements in the footwear industry, Peter also has considerable experience in clothing technology and consumer products testing.

Peter is currently Chairman of the BSI committee on safety footwear and the European group that interprets technical standards for safety footwear certification.

He also serves on numerous other UK and European technical committees and is one of Europe's foremost authorities in the field of fall protection, travelling the world to assess fall protection systems on site.

Commenting on his new role, Peter said: “The work involved in the Safety Product Centre is extremely varied as we have to test and certify different products to ensure head-to-toe protection."
