According released by China Customs Service for April 2005 and for the four months to April informs that total wool product exports recorded positive year-on-year gains in both weight and value (US$) terms.

Rise in values in the top ten destinations is possibly a reflection of the stronger external demand for 'value added' products (worsted fabrics through to apparel), while exports of lower value yarns and knitwear declined.

Worsted and woolen fabric export volumes increases sharply again in April. Growth in exports of woolen fabric was supported by Hong Kong, a key market, while exports of worsted fabric recorded strong growth in non-traditional destinations, with exports to Vietnam, Canada and Thailand lifting.

Strong growth levels from its traditional market Japan, helped lift volumes of men's wear exports for the four months to April along with exports to the US (ranked in second position).

Unlike men's wear, the volume of wool women's wear product exports during January to April declined in both value and volume terms. Similarly, knitwear exports continued to deteriorate during January-April 2005 with volumes falling in two of its key markets, Hong Kong and Japan.
