Vietnamese garment exporters are experiencing a fall in orders for the second quarter of the current year, as majority of the country's traditional export markets are hit by economic crisis.
Resultantly, the exporters who usually secured orders till third quarter of a year at previous year end itself have all been struggling to get orders since 2011-end.
Vietnamese apparel and textile industry experienced a 10-15 percent year-on-year fall in export orders during the second quarter of the current year, which was an extension of a 30 percent fall in orders from the EU and 16 percent from Japan during the first quarter.
Moreover, rising emphasis on quality and ecologically-sustainable products in the US, EU and Japan also held back the demand for Vietnamese products.
In view of this, the Vietnamese clothing exporters are currently considering expansion in Russia, Australia and certain South American and North African countries.
To find out a way to help the country's apparel exporters cope with the difficult situation, the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre has opened an export forum for trade officers, economic experts and industry representatives in the HCM City.
