Partnership Summit highlights Vision Haryana initiative

Spelling out the 'Vision Haryana', at the Special Plenary –Destination Haryana: Leading India's progress at the Partnership Summit 2008, Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister Haryana, said that the state is targeting a growth rate of 11% for the 11th financial plan.

The vision is to convert the existing 30 billion dollar economy into a 130 billion dollar economy in the next decade.

Dwelling upon the transformation of Haryana from an agrarian state to a vibrant industrial economy competing at par with other entities on the global platform, he elaborated on the key initiatives of the state government towards making Haryana the number one investment destination.

He highlighted the key initiatives and achievements of the state government on the fiscal management front, infrastructure including soft infrastructure and focus on education and health, industrial development and agriculture.

Giving an overview of the progress of the state, Mr P K Chaudhary, Financial Commissioner & Principal Secretary, Dept of Industries Commerce and IT, Govt of Haryana said that since the creation of the state in 1966 there have been significant structural changes in economy with substantial increase in the contribution of the secondary and tertiary sectors.

Highlighting 'advantage Haryana' he said that the state has a locational advantage, well developed infrastructure & access to intellectual and entrepreneurial pool available in the NCR region.

The leading sectors in the state, which also offer investment opportunities are IT and ITES, automobiles and auto components, food processing, high end textile and leather fashion garments & accessories, drugs and pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and incubation and development of frontier technologies which infact would be a key focus area for the next decade.

Mr Chaudhary also highlighted some of the key initiatives planned – the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, KMP Global corridor, addition of about 5000 MW of power capacities in the next three years, creation of industrial infrastructure, education city, nano city and many more.
