Bernard Lacoste, Honorary President & the former boss of French clothing and sportswear company Lacoste SA, has passed away in Paris on 21st March 2006, following a fatal illness at the age of 75. This led him to transfer the presidency of Lacoste SA on 1st September 2005 to his brother and closest collarborator for many years, Michel Lacoste.

From 1963 onwards, Bernard Lacoste presided over the destiny of the famous crocodile, and turned the emblem of his father, the tennis champion Rene Lacoste, into one of the best-known brands around the world. When Bernard Lacoste took over the management of Lacoste SA, around three hundred thousand products bearing the crocodile logo were sold annually. In 2005, this had risen to almost fifty million products in over one hundred and ten countries.

From the famous cotton polo shirt designed by Rene Lacoste for playing tennis, with which he won the greatest singles and doubles tournaments plus the Davis Cup with his team-mates the "Musketeers," Lacoste SA has become a "lifestyle" brand. Alongside a vast collection of clothing, Lacoste SA and its partners now offer shoes, perfumes, leather goods, watches, eyewear, belts and household fabrics.

Michel Lacoste, his sister Catherine Lacoste, great golf champion just like her Mother, his brother Francois and the grand children and great-grandchildren of Rene Lacoste will continue the development of the crocodile with passion.

Lacoste SA is French designer and manufacturer of apparel and fragrances. It sells clothing, footwear, perfume and eyewear products and is easily recognized by its green crocodile logo.

The company produces a portion of clothing line in France and delegates production of international clothing in numerous factories in the world, including those found in Peru and Morocco.
