Westside presented superb pret collections by Narendra Kumar and Wendell Rodricks for S/S 2010 at lakme fashion Week.

Each season, the Westside chain of stores unveils the prêt collections of designers Narendra Kumar and Wendell Rodricks. The latest lines which will be available in select Westside stores across India were a colourful, easy, relaxed look for the coming season.

Very unconventional and practical is how one can describe Narendra Kumar's collection at Westside for Spring/Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week. Aimed at “real” people in all shapes and sizes, the designer showed a line that will appeal to women from 18-24 years. The models for the show were college girls who were selected to wear Narendra's very trendy line. The collection called “Ethno City” was inspired by Tangiers, the Moroccan city where modern architecture, blends with an ethnic bend. Lots of tops, jeans, tunics, some oriental pants, dresses and brightly printed shirts in colours like red, cobalt blue, yellow and browns made a great line.

Designed from specially woven fabrics and hand made, the collection had puff sleeved checked blouses, drawstring hem minis, bubble skirts, smocks, silk sheaths, very trendy knit hooded dress, high waist jeans and some pretty little black dresses with detailing. The fabrics selected by Narendra were mainly cotton woven and knits, for day wear and graphic prints in polyester. For evening wear it was satin in after dark shades.

What more can women ask for, when a designer like Narendra Kumar devotes his creativity to giving them a wardrobe they will love to wear anytime anywhere.

Called “Bossa Nova” Wendell Rodricks' line for Westside at Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 was a cool laid back one with comfortable silhouettes. The colour palette was in shades of earth and tan for jerseys, crisp linens, flowing silks and cool eco-cottons.

Divided into four sections dedicated to different fabrics, Wendell started with the Copacabana Sand line in raw cotton which had UV protective antibacterial and machine washable properties. Georgette, linen and cotton were made into envelop wrap tie skirt, a ghagra-cumponcho, a dhoti pant as a tunic and many more interesting creations. The “Brazil Forest” line in knitted cotton/viscose had an olive or khaki draped dress with sleeve hem that traveled to the nape of the back, single sleeve dress with contrast drape and a lovely kimono sleeve pallav sari for drama. The “Rio Do Janeiro” evening wear in silk and cotton had a peacock blue and grey linen envelope hem dress, a duo of georgette dresses in cranberry and olive and many interesting light cocktail wear. For “Gizelle Glam” it was sensual night glamour with net dresses, single sleeve shift with asymmetric draped waist, a glamorous crepe silk kaftan with looped georgette floating panel and a stunning fuchsia Brazilian goddess gown.

For day or evening glamour the Wendell Rodricks new collection at Westside for the coming season will be a perfect addition to any wardrobe.
