According to the MDIC data, Brazil exported 20,500 tons of cotton during the month of April this year, which is 37.5 percent less than the 32,800 tons of cotton exported during the same month last year.
Cotton exports from the country during the month of April declined by 11.62 percent month-on-month as per the MDIC data. In March 2014, Brazilian cotton exports amounted to $45.6 million.
However, the average price of cotton in the month of April increased to $1,960 per ton, up 2.93 percent year-on-year and 2.96 percent month-on-month.
According to the MDIC data, during the first four months of 2014, Brazil’s cotton exports touched $171.2 million, registering a fall of 52.91 percent compared to the $363.6 million worth of cotton exported during same period last year.
The country shipped 88,700 tons of cotton during the January to April period, which is a decrease of 51.97 percent, compared to 184,700 tons shipped during the same period in 2013.
