'Refinery largest and most complex in the World', says Mr Ambani
Jun '08
Reliance Petroleum Ltd recently held its third annual general meeting. The Chairman Mr. Mukesh Ambani addressed the share holders of the company.

Abstracts of the speech of Mr Ambani.

“Our team is set to create a new world record for the construction of a large grassroots refinery. This is the hallmark Reliance tradition. On completion, this mammoth project RPL will be the world's 6th largest refinery. With the existing RIL refinery at Jamnagar, it will have a total processing capacity of 1.24 million barrels per day – the largest and most complex in the world.

Indeed, expectations from the new refinery are very high, because it is a significant addition to the global refining industry, both in the scale and complexity of the project. The supply from RPL's new refinery will represent almost 50 percent of the estimated global oil demand growth in 2009. It should increase global production capacity of both gasoline and diesel by around 1 percent.

RPL refinery is export oriented. Commissioning it will make India a global petroleum products export hub. It will place our country firmly on the global energy map.

On completion, the RPL refinery will have the ability to process heavy and sour crude. It will also produce value added products meeting the highest quality specifications in the world. At time of the RPL refinery project announcement, a number of large scale greenfield export refineries have also been announced in the Middle East and Asia.
