National Handloom Show 2008 opens today

A two-day National Handloom Show 2008 opened today at Mascot Hotel. The event is organised by Thiruvananthapuram cluster of the Integrated Handloom Cluster Development Programme, together with the Commissioner of Handlooms, Hantex and the Kerala Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles.
The Industries Minister Elamaram Karim inaugurated the expo.
Produced by various handloom societies, more than 500 products are on display here. Over 200 buyers from around 135 organizations through out the country are visiting the show.
A lifestyle exhibition, buyer–seller meet, seminars on handloom industry, photo exhibition on handlooms, adoption of looms, and a fashion show will also be the part of this exposition.
This handloom Show aims to provide a platform for weavers so that they can sell their artifacts at a fair price without any intervention from the middle men.
