Liberty Shoes to invest Rs 85 crore to set up 3 facilities

Liberty Shoes Ltd, a $100 million company is planning to set up three manufacturing units of which two are scheduled to come up in Himachal Pradesh and one in Uttaranchal, with a total outlay of Rs 80-85 crore.
Its two units are coming up at Ponta Sahib in Himachal and the third is being set up near Roorkee area of Uttaranchal.
Roorkee project, to be named Liberty Polyurethanes will have state-of-the-art facilities to produce special PU application products for Indian market.
Expansion of existing facilities has been prompted by global majors favouring India and Indian manufacturers instead of Chinese.
Ponta Sahib units of Liberty Shoes will come up at the cost of around Rs 30-35 crore, whereas investments worth Rs 50 crore has been envisaged for Roorkee plant.
New plants will incorporate latest material handling system as well as best Quality Management System to deliver quality products along with total footwear manufacturing facilities from cutting of upper raw material till supply of finished products.
Ponta Sahib units are expected to start production by July this year, while Roorkee plant will go on stream from January next year.
