Italian apparel firm Calzedonia plans to launch a new production line in its existing facility in Bosnia's Prijedor, scrapping its plans to build a new factory at a separate location there, according to the city administration. The production line will manufacture pajamas and T-shirts for Calzedonia’s underwear and apparel brands Tezenis and Intimissimi.

Calzedonia's initial plan was to find a location in Prijedor to build a plant for socks sewing and dyeing, but in the meantime it transferred this activity to another country where the infrastructure and the logistics for it have already been in place, the company’s investment director Francesco Ruffoli was quoted as saying in the statement issued by the city administration.

Under the new plan, Calzedonia will continue the investment in the existing facility in Prijedor, which has served as a training centre, which it will rearrange to accommodate the enlarged production, a website dealing with business intelligence for Easter Europe reported.

The investor will keep the current 55 workers, and employ some 600 new ones by 2020.

Currently, the facility in Prijedor only produces women's socks.
