Ginger & Smart shows Dualism collection on day 3 of MBFWA

Elegant womenswear label Ginger & Smart opened the third day of ongoing Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) with its latest Spring/Summer 2014/15 collection titled Dualism.

Inspired by the concepts of double vision and duality, designers Genevieve and Alexandra Smart created a line of smartly tailored pieces, peppered with graphic digital prints. Using long body contouring shapes, the range displayed dresses, pencil skirts with back and front slits, soft sheer tops and fluid dresses.

Designer Michael Lo Sordo showcased a light, casual and effortless collection, adorned with wide white and black pinstripes as well as snakeskin-inspired prints and textures. Based on confection hues of strawberry pink and lemon yellow, the featured pieces were trench coats, sheer hemmed skirts, round shouldered tops and jackets.

Fashion brand Talulah’s creative director Kelli Wharton presented her fresh S/S 2014-15 swimwear and resortwear range named Crystal Tropics at the event. Incorporated with crochet designs and fringes, the bold pieces included string bikinis, caftans, single piece swimsuits and printed beach shorts.

Internationally-known Aussie talent Toni Maticevski drew inspiration from the 1950s and 1960s couturier styles for his new runway looks. Replete with exaggerated volumes and innovative silhouettes, the designer displayed an array of beautiful futuristic, sportswear-influenced full-skirted ensembles.

Christopher Esber chose to showcase a clean simple range, incorporated with elegant shapes and wearable fabrics. Devoid of any decorative embellishments such as embroidery, sequins and beading, the collection included double-breasted catsuits, skimpy shorts, and asymmetrical dresses and skirts.
